LBI
This week Ryan, Robin, Reagan, Jason, Joyce and I embarked on our annual trip to the shore. Reagan’s first flight seemed to go fairly well. She didn’t sleep much, which was unfortunate since we were on a red eye from PDX to EWR. We were all pretty tired upon arrival in Newark, except for Jason, who slept the entire flight. It took us forever to get to the rental car desk and there were evidently some fun fireworks with Joyce almost dropping her ring down a crack by the skytrain. Ryan and I missed this because we rode a different train.
Since our party had grown by one over previous years, we decided to rent two cars. Ryan and I drove one and Jason drove the other. On our way down to the Shore we stopped in Moorestown to have breakfast with the family.
The week went well and surprisingly fast. I slept a lot thanks to my mono but still managed to pack in some fun. For the first time in forever we went out on a boat in the bay. Uncle Pete’s brother Drew took all of us for tour and then Ryan, Ben, Leah and I went tubing. The choppy and windy conditions led to some awesome rides.
One perk of going in season and in the summer was that our days were significantly longer than we are used to in September. Most nights Jason and I and occasionally Ryan were in the water until sunset. The temperature of both the water and the air were perfect. The skies were some of the prettiest I’ve seen.
Other things of note on this particular trip... Reagan is definitely more like her Daddy when it comes to her beach interests. She loves to play in the sand and the water. Better yet, she likes to get sand on her Mommy, which is hilarious to watch. There were some epic Qwirkle battles where Jason spoke exclusively in a Southern accent to the delight of Leah. Southern Jason often referred to his wife’s swamp name, “Cletus”. Skippy Dippy no longer has the infuser. It was a disappointment to all this season. Jason and Ryan went ocean fishing off a kayak. This is the first time I can remember them doing that. Watching the boys get past the break was thoroughly entertaining.
All in it was another great trip to the Shore. It’s hard to believe the sixth season is already in the books. Here’s to the seventh season where with the arrival of JT, we will be a party of at least seven!
