This weekend Jason, Joyce and I went to visit Joe and Han-Mei in Arizona. After being back in Oregon’s cold rain for all of three days I was ready to get back to the sun! Joe and HM are working for Hoffman Construction on Intel’s ginormous $6B facility in Chandler.
The weekend was filled with lots of laughs and went waaaay too fast. We got in late Friday night. Saturday morning we went to the first game of Spring Training which was the Giants vs the Diamondbacks. While waiting in line and during the first two innings of the game I was in an epic battle with United over some plane tickets for Jason. The phone call started much earlier in the morning and lasted literally 2:56:16. Yes that says two hours, fifty-six minutes and 16 seconds. Needless to say in the end I won and I will be taking a few trips on UALs dollar.
The game had lots of offense and was fun to watch. I was proud of the group because everyone made it through the whole nine innings! After the game we took a driving tour around the job site which was pretty cool. The size and the scope of the project is insane. Next we went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant and had lots more fun conversation. After dinner we went back to the condo and played a game called Qwirkle until all the old people (Jason, Joe and HM) needed sleep.
Sunday we got up and went out to breakfast. We then explored downtown Scottsdale on foot before going back to the condo and playing a few more rounds of Qwirkle by the pool. For dinner we went to a brewery called SanTan. I very much enjoyed my “Texicana”. After dinner we wrapped up the evening with... you guessed it... more Qwirkle!
Monday morning Joe and HM had to go to work early. Jason, Joyce and I went out for breakfast and then Jason went back to the condo to work. Joyce and I went shopping before it was time for the three of us to head for the airport.
The weekend went super fast, which is almost always the sign of a great time! I’m certain we’ll be back in AZ before you know it because friends, family, laughter, games and Vitamin D does a body good!
Until the next (currently unplanned...) adventure,
Katy
